I hope you will find the information on the site useful. If you are one of my constituents it will help you find out what I am doing on your behalf. Please use it not just as a source of information but interactively to ask me questions, and to put forward your views on local and national issues.

There are several innovative functions on the website that make it easy to use and find your way around. Just click on one of the headings on either of the bars above to get the information you want. If you want to check if you live in my constituency click on ‘contact’ and put in your postcode. To send me a message type it in the box on the ‘contact’ page and let me have your name, postal address and email address if you want me to reply. Most of my posts allow you to add a comment which will appear on the website after moderation unless I consider it to be inappropriate.

The main purpose of the site is to keep my constituents informed about what I – as their elected representative – am doing on their behalf. If you wish, you can sign up to receive updates on my activities via Twitter. The site lets you read my speeches in Parliament in text format or, if you prefer, view some of them as video recordings. There are links from this website to the Scottish Parliament website and other useful sites.

I am the Shadow spokesperson for my party for Education and Young People – so many of my speeches and press statements are to do with Education and related issues. For the most recent posts read my blog or go to the ‘Education’ heading on the main bar.

The bar has headings for ‘Clydebank’ and ‘Milngavie’ where I give my views on local constituency matters. ‘Milngavie’ is a shorthand for Milngavie and Bearsden North since I represent most of Bearsden North as well as Milngavie but I can’t fit Bearsden North in the heading. As your elected representative I want to hear from you both on local issues and on national issues. Sometimes on topical issues I get a number of letters or emails from constituents – the website allows me to set out my views in a way that makes them easily accessible to everyone.

My intention is to run an electronic survey on a different issue each month. Please submit your views via the survey button on the right hand side of the home page. Knowing what you have to say about the issues facing our local community or the Scottish Parliament will help me do my job better.
